Carpool Commute Program

Since the early 1970’s carpooling has become the number one recognized alternative to getting to work alone. At the Contra Costa Centre carpools account for the fastest growing group of commuters. The carpool program is less formal than the vanpool program, however, the benefits are just as tangible.

Carpools, which are a group of two to five people, can be formed in a short amount of time and have a maximum amount of flexibility. Carpools are also able to utilize the HOV diamond lanes and pass through toll lanes over bridges free of charge in many circumstances.

he Contra Costa Centre periodically offers incentives to encourage Centre employees to choose carpooling as their commute alternative. Programs vary and their development is determined by annual budgetary guidelines. In addition, through a partnership with 511. Contra Costa, commuters who start a new carpool or add a new rider to an existing carpool can receive a gas coupon valued at $60. And, carpool participants are also eligible for the Guaranteed Ride Home program.

To learn more about the Carpool Commute Program or to obtain an application for participation, contact us at the Contra Costa Centre Association office (see below).
